Welcome to the Model United Nations Crisis: Let's Not Get Angkor: The Court of Suryavarman II. Set in the heart of the 12th century, this historical simulation takes place during the reign of the illustrious Khmer king, Suryavarman II, as the grand construction of Angkor Wat is underway. Participants will navigate the intricate web of court politics, regional alliances, and international diplomacy in the midst of one of Southeast Asia's most ambitious architectural projects. As delegates, you will grapple with challenges such as securing resources, managing labor forces, and addressing internal and external threats to the empire. This crisis demands not only strategic thinking and negotiation skills but also an appreciation for the cultural and historical significance of the period. Will you rise to the occasion and ensure the legacy of Angkor Wat endures, or will your missteps lead to the downfall of a civilization? The fate of the Khmer Empire lies in your hands.
